Volunteering and contributing within my community and other areas in need is close to my heart. My philosophy is that my family is blessed in order to be a blessing to others. If that’s your philosophy too, read on, kindred spirit.

While we live in an area of immense affluence and abundance, there are still those who struggle, those who get lost in the shuffle, those who just need a little help every now and then. I want to be there to help meet those needs when they arise.

I’ve created this space to share updates on local volunteer or contribution opportunities when I hear of them. When at all possible, I will include opportunities in which children are able to participate (there’s more out there than you think!) so that we can educate our children on the differing needs of others and the importance of compassionate assistance within a community.

If you are involved with a volunteer organization or know of volunteer events happening within the community, please email me at frugalfriscomomma@gmail.com and I’ll add it here. I’d love to help spread the word and the love around our North Texas community, our state, and the world.

This organization does all kinds of things, from helping vulnerable women dress themselves for job interviews to providing school supplies and school clothes to local kids who need them. A Motivating Love - This Collin County-based NPO’s goal is to connect mothers from every stage and phase of parenting. From the AML website: “Our goal at A Motivating Love is to provide emotional support and resources to assure mothers that they are enough. We seek to be the resource you can use when you question your ability, your worth, and even your sanity. We will assist with maintaining your emotional health and everyday lives via classes, support groups and using our own inner strength.” AML is a fairly new organization so they need some help from local volunteers and sponsors to expand their reach. AML is close to my heart as a mother who loves other mothers, and I have invested my personal time with their organization.

Frisco Fastpacs - It may be shocking to hear, but many children in FISD rely on the school system for nutrition via school breakfast and lunch. But what about the weekends when school is not in session? Frisco Fastpacs has stepped in to fill the gap. From the Fastpacs website: “Our mission at Frisco Fastpacs is simple. We want to ensure that no child in Frisco has to endure hunger when school is not in session. Caring for kids, one pack at a time. Every week throughout the school year, we deliver individual pre-packed bags to FISD schools that include enough food for 7 meals for each qualifying child for them to eat over the weekend at home.” Fastpacs offers members of the community, children included, opportunities to help fill FISD students’ bellies throughout the school year.
