Winterfest 2021 at Gaylord Texan
We’re not ready to say goodbye to these chilly days and the magic of winter quite yet. That’s why we were so excited to hear about Winterfest happing right now at the Gaylord Texan Hotel in Grapevine! Winterfest brought us all the cozy feels when we recently attended, and I highly recommend making a trip to experience it before it ends. Winterfest is in full swing every Friday, Saturday and Sunday now through February 28. Here’s what you can expect at Winterfest.
THE JASON BISHOP ILLUSION SHOW
We attended the Jason Bishop Show at Gaylord Winterfest as a family and loved it! Jason and his assistant (plus another surprise guest!) put on a really fun and very impressive show. We definitely left still asking, “How’d he do that??” The show is family-friendly and good for all ages. There was a little higher-level humor involved, but nothing we’d deem inappropriate- some things just went over the kids’ heads while the adults enjoyed a good laugh. Who says parents can’t enjoy themselves too? The show we experienced had family groups well spaced out at individual tables in the large ballroom. Concessions, including beer and wine, are available for purchase at the door. Ticket prices ($18 for 13+ and $10 for 12 and under) felt like a good price point for us. We really enjoyed this live show and highly recommend it!
GAYLORD LOBBY
One of the highlights of the Gaylord Texan is its expansive and extravagant lobby, from waterfalls and a river to miniature train sets and longhorns. This beautiful lobby looks even better when its decorated for winter! At this time the Gaylord has transitioned away from traditional Christmas decorations (no Santas or elves) to more of a generic winter theme, such as snowmen, penguins, and polar bears. During the designated Winterfest hours on Fridays through Sundays, there are also costumed ice queens teetering on stilts, a custom balloon animal station (free, tips encouraged), and lots of festive twinkle lights. There are also plenty of comfortable seating areas with fireplaces to gather with your family over a hot cocoa or hot toddy.

SCHOOL’S OUT! WINTER BREAKOUT ESCAPE ROOM
Recommended for ages 10 and up, this escape room has you racing against the clock to collect a lost item. Each escape room time slot is reserved for one family unit/group at a time and lasts 45 minutes. Purchase tickets online in advance.
